About Us

We are Lisa Bruus and Louise Yoxall and we are your local class teachers for Torbay and South Devon.  Music with Mummy is a long established and well respected early years musical education program that has been running for 25 years around the UK and in South Devon for over 12 years now.  Read on to find out a bit more about us and why we love what we do!

Lisa Bruus

LISA
Lisa and her little girl

Lisa has enjoyed a long career in entertainment which she took a break from to have her daughter. They attended Carol’s Music with Mummy sessions and enjoyed the classes very much, and also made lots of lovely friends too.

And when the opportunity came along for her to run classes she was over the moon.
Lisa qualified as a nursery Nurse and used her love of working with children together with her love of performing throughout her career. She trained as a dancer and went on to teach children to dance and sing.

Lisa has performed in many shows and pantomimes where she met her husband, who was a musician and played the drums. She has choreographed and put shows together, and also appeared in various children’s TV programmes.

Lisa feels very lucky to be able to combine being a mother and doing a job she loves; working with children developing new skills though music and movement, and of course, having fun!

Louise (Lou) Yoxall

Lou and one of her little ones!

Lou attended Carol’s Music with Mummy classes with both her young children so has experienced firsthand the benefits for both children and parents. When the opportunity arose in 2017 to start running her own classes, she jumped at the chance.

Lou has been involved in musical activities all her life, she played piano and flute at school to grade 8 standard and achieved an A level in music at sixth form.
She has sung in school choirs and as an adult with local group Ashburton Singers.

Lou is an Ofsted registered childminder so has a detailed understanding of the importance of music in all aspects of child development.

She grew up in Buckfastleigh and returned to live in Devon to get married and raise her family, living with them in Newton Abbot for ten years. She moved to her new home in Kingsteignton in 2016, from where she currently runs her classes, and intends to expand her classes to Ashburton, Chudleigh, Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead in time.
